FUNAAB RESUMES OCTOBER 3
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Senate, at the end of its emergency meeting held recently, has approved Monday, October 3, 2016, as the resumption date for normal academic activities. The students, who have been on mid-semester break, are now to resume after the consideration of the report submitted by the committee that was set up to look into the students’ unrest. The Senate has, therefore, approved the facilitation of the establishment of a Police Station in the communities opposite the University Campus.
The University Management has also approved that aside the usual security measures that had been put in place, University and police patrol vehicles would now be stationed at a strategic location, from
6pm to 6am daily, to swiftly attend to any distress call, while the internal security team, in collaboration with the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the Odeda and Obantoko areas in Abeokuta, Ogun State, would continue to take turns, on a daily basis, to patrol the University environs, especially, at night.
The University, through the Police Community Relations’ Committee (PCRC), is working at ensuring that hostel owners provide at least, four security personnel for each hotel, who are to work in conjunction with the security personnel stationed at a strategic location. Failure to abide by this arrangement would make the University to blacklist erring hostels, while students would be advised against patronising such hostels in their own interest.
The University Management has, again, encouraged the various communities to embrace community policing, vigilante services and support the efforts of both the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), while students have also been enjoined to take security matters more seriously and avoid attracting unnecessary attention to themselves, by always being alert, vigilant about happenings in their surroundings and be swift in contacting the University’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), in case they notice any strange movement or occurrence around their vicinity.
Management’s effort at providing more hostel accommodation through the Federal Government, is being given top priority within the available resources. FUNAAB would continue to appeal to well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the University, even as the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), through its Special Intervention Fund and private organisations, are building additional hotels within the University, which are currently at various stages of completion.
Additionally, the University Administration has directed that all lectures should not exceed 6pm daily, to allow students get to their homes before dusk, while the internal shuttle services are always available to convey students, who reside outside the campus, close to their destinations. For emergencies, the University’s Chief Security Officer could be contacted on the mobile number: 08081779023.
Meanwhile, the University Senate has approved the payment of the sum of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00) only, inclusive of REMITA charges per student, as reparation fee, as well as presentation of a letter of undertaking to be of good conduct from their parents and a sworn affidavit from the Court of law, while the deadline for compliance is October 4, 2016. The Senate also approved the payment of claims to claimants arising from the damages suffered, as a result of the students’ unrest.

Ondo State APC Governorship Primary-
Tinubu Support for a candidate was wrong & dangerous- Bayo Lawal
Tinubu

A  Lagos based Social and Political critic- Mr. Bayo Lawal has condemned the support The National Leader of APC gave to one of the aspirants- Dr.Segun Abraham before and during the primary election. according to Bayo Lawal, "the status and position of Bola Tinubu is
Dr. Segun Abraham
more than supporting or adopting any candidate in any primary election of the ruling Party APC  in Ondo or any other State. He is a National Leader of the party and his should be how a level  playing ground would be created for transparent and credible elections at all times." Bayo Lawal made the comment at a public Political interaction in Ikorodu on Monday.
Chief Rotimi Akeredolu
Bayo Lawal also said that Senator Bola Tinubu position on Ondo APC Primary is also dangerous for the National Image and Future of the ruling party and that of Tinubu himself. For the Party, Bayo Lawal said that Tinubu support has created fractions and factions in the party already as different factions are exchanging hot words and statement that are too dangerous for the Unity of the party.

" Take for instance, Tinubu camped has fingered Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State as a betrayer of Senator Tinubu for not ensuring that Dr. Segun Abraham win the primary",Bayo Lawal. lamented.
Lawal also went further that "Everybody knows that Aregbesola is a Political adopted child of Tinubu for long. Tinubu made him Commissioner in Lagos State and used his (Tinubu) to make in Governor of Osun State. Now described as betrayer of his Political God father! You what it means in Nigerian politics?"

Bayo Lawal described Tinubu calls for closing ranks of all the aspirants for ensuring that the winner of the Primary - Chief Rotimi Akeredolu becomes the elected Governor of Ondo State on the 26th of November this year as too late and blessing after death having declared open support for one of the aspirants before election.

Tinubu after the announcement of Chief Rotimi Akeredolu as the winner of the primary called all the aspirants to come together to liberate Ondo state from slavery. He(Tinubu) said- “In Ondo we must close ranks to achieve victory. The future of the state and of the party in the state should never be held ransom to insignificant personal animosities and perceived slights,” he said in a statement." Bayo Lawal frowned at the calls as too late and a downgrade to Tinubu's status.

Bayo Lawal advise the Party at National and State levels to work hard in reconciling the group before November 26 if the APC is aiming at change of Government on Ondo State. He said " The Party must work hard to reconcile all the aggrieved party members and factions before November 26 if they really want a change of Government in Ondo State in the coming governorship election.

As for Tinubu, Bayo Lawal said it is a downgrade on political status of APC National Leader who had worked so well for the National Status of the ruling party today. According to Lawal, " I don't think any APC members efforts and struggles had helped the party like that of Senator Bola Tinubu. It is his personal struggle right from JUNE 12 syndrome and NADECO that brought him to lime light. He really worked hard and well. No one can deny him of that.

Bayo Lawal however advised Tinubu of Installing any candidate again as things are changing including the growth and emergence of young politicians. He said if care is not taken, Tinubu can loose his status and respect by supporting candidates at primaries. He is a national leader and should respect that position
